If you are interested in taking part in the Sunday service and would like to learn about doing a reading this informative, FUN class hosted by Audrey will review the requirements and teach you the basics of public speaking.  

2012 Discovery Class TBA.  Stay tuned for more information coming in March 2012.

SOM 102 - Spiritual Mind Treatment :The Nature of Effective Prayer

Tuesdays March 13th - May 1st 7-9:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of SOM 102, the student will have an enriched understanding of how the mind of God in the individual operates for creative purpose. The student will also thoroughly understand that outer experience is a direct reflection of consciousness. And the student will redirect his or her thought through the practice of spiritual mind treatment for the purpose of creating an enhanced life experience. 

Call the CSL office to register for all classes (663-8400) or sign the sign up sheets at the Centre. All classes and workshops are held at 625 Spruce St.

Tuition for all CSL ACCREDITED CLASSES is $130 for each 8 week course. Class fees are PAID IN ADVANCE of the start date of the class, to the Office, Resource Centre or by mail.

 All classes unless otherwise noted are 7:00PM - 9:30PM.

ACCREDITED CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
A student may enroll in the SOM 100 Series and SOM 200 Series for credit in any sequence and be awarded certificates accordingly. However, a student may not take SOM 100 and 200 units simultaneously for credit. 

SOM 101 - "The Spiritual Path" 

Upon successful completion of SOM 101, the student will have a greater understanding of the nature of Life and God's relationship to the individual. The student will also understand the creative nature of thought and begin to use spiritual mind treatment as a means of directing thought toward a specific result. 

SOM 102 - "Spiritual Mind Treatment: The Nature of Effective Prayer" 

Upon successful completion of SOM 102, the student will have an enriched understanding of how the mind of God in the individual operates for creative purpose. The student will also thoroughly understand that outer experience is a direct reflection of consciousness. And the student will redirect his or her thought through the practice of spiritual mind treatment for the purpose of creating an enhanced life experience. 


SOM 103 - "Building a Healing Consciousness" 

Upon successful completion of SOM 103, the student will have begun the process of building a healing consciousness through the practice of spiritual mind treatment and have a greater understanding of the nature of creative process in the individual. 


SOM 104 - "The Principles of Successful Living" 

Upon successful completion of SOM 104, the student will have a greater understanding of his/her place in the Spiritual system and the part that consciousness plays in demonstrating greater good.

SOM 201: The Mind-Body Connection

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Mind-Body Connection explores the connection between the mind and the body, using the Science of Mind textbook and other more current materials. Special attention is paid to the recent interest in alternative medicine and holistic healing.

SOM 202: The Power of Decision

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Power of Decision is designed to empower students to reach independent decisions which enhance the quality of their lives. Based on the powerful metaphysical classic, this course is valuable for both the new and experienced student. 

SOM 203 - "This Thing Called You"

Upon successful completion of SOM 203 - "This Thing Called You", the student will have begun to understand that he/she is an individualized expression of God and reenacts the creative process on an individual level in the same manner as it is enacted on the universal level

SOM 204 - "Spiritual Laws"

Upon successful completion of SOM 204 - "Spiritual Laws", the student will have a greater understanding of the Law of Cause and Effect as the fundamental Law of life through acquiring a greater understanding of how it operates as a creative principle in many different ways. The student will also become more aware of the Law as a creative dynamic rather than as a virtuous theory

SOM 205 - "Spiritual Economics"

Upon successful completion of SOM 205 - "Spiritual Economics", the student will possess a greater understanding of the basic metaphysical principles which govern our financial wellness and will learn how to apply them in his/her own life to heal any limitation which may exist.

SOM 206: What the Mystics Knew

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The primary focus of this class is on deepening the student's actual experience of the timeless and eternal nature of Spirit. 

SOM 207: Edinburgh Lectures

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Based on the classic lecture series, the Edinburgh Lectures have inspired nearly every other early New Thought writer. Judge Thomas Troward delivered them in Scotland in 1908 and they have served as the touchstone for metaphysical thinking to this day. Troward's mind is logical, brilliant, and extremely precise. This class is excellent for the serious student of New Thought.

SOM 208 - "Emerson's Essays"

Upon successful completion of SOM 208 - "Emerson's Essays", the student will have a clear understanding of the importance of the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalist Movement in the development of Science of Mind. The student will also have an opportunity to fit the ideas of Emerson into his/her personal philosophy.

SOM 209 - "Bible Scholarship & History"

THIS CLASS IS ABOUT THE BIBLE. IT IS NOT A BIBLE STUDY COURSE.

The purpose of SOM 209 - "Bible Scholarship & History" is to give students a basic knowledge of the structure and history of the Bible. To give students enough knowledge to converse with people who expect them to "know the Bible" since they are students of Religious Science. It also gives students an overview of recent Bible scholarship and background information on Bible-based issues in today's world. To explore the role of the Bible in New Thought.

SOM 210: Metaphorical Approach to the Bible

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a look at the Bible as story, Bible as myth. Drawing from sources as diverse as Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Aesop, Joseph Campbell, and Jelaluddin Rumi, this course looks at the many Life Stories in the bible, where we play every character. Students will learn powerful and effective tools for translation and interpretation.

SOM 211: Metaphysical Bible

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Many students of New Thought are familiar with Rocco Errico and his translations of the Bible. This course looks at the metaphysical meanings of the parables and familiar stories you remember from childhood.

SOM 212: Myth and Spirit

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Joseph Campbell was perhaps the greatest thinker of the 20th Century. His writings cover a vast range of spirituality, culture, and human mythology. His presence, which most people only experience through the wonderful Power of Myth video series, was transcendent. This course takes an overview of Campbell's work, helping the novice and scholar alike make sense of their own personal myth.
